Moss was born on February 13, 1977. He is an American footballer. He played in
the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons , including the Minnesota
Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and the San
Francisco 49ers. Along with Jerry Rice, he is widely regarded as being the
greatest wide receiver ever. Moss holds the NFL single year touchdown record
(23 in 2007) and also the first NFL single season touchdown reception mark (17
in 1998). He also ranks 2nd in the NFL all-time regular season touchdown
receptions list with 156. Moss was well-known for his skill in securing
contestable catches, and the term "mossed" has been incorporated into
football's language. Following football, he began working with ESPN as a studio
analyst for its Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown programs. Moss
was an Rand, West Virginia native. Moss attended DuPont High School. This was
one of the two schools that later amalgamated to form Riverside High School. He
was a star in basketball, football and baseball. Randy was also a part of the
school’s debate team. Moss was a DuPont Panthers' football player who led them
to two consecutive state championships, in 1992 and 1993. Moss was a top wide
receiver. He also played as a free safety and returned punts. He was honored
with the Kennedy Award in 1994 as West Virginia's Football Player of Year.
Parade magazine named him to their All-American high school football teams in
the year 1995. In 2009, they named him one the top 50 high-school football
players of all-time.
